| "Children are entitled to their otherness, as anyone is; and when we reach them, as we sometimes do, it is generally on a point of sheer delight, to us so astonishing, but to them so natural" | |
I have a few children right now--on the fast track to graduation--1..2..3..of them have been with me for over a year....the other one just a couple months---it's just so wonderful to enjoy their victories, their ability to function with ease now---to watch them read to me and play and rush to tell me their latest accomplishment and have conversations with me about bananas and bird poop...ah, to be 4. You remind me that your peers....in a psychiatric ward, threatening teachers, lil thug, after a year still struggling to regulate, and the many yet to be decided's have hope.... And you know it's kind of sad--we've been pals for over a year....that's a long time to know someone, even if you're 24 and 4. I need to keep my ratio of 4 year old friends up ;0) |
